Summary from Goodreads:
Trapped in the underground theater world of 1890s New Orleans, Hale Ferrer has only one goal: escape. But not without Teeny, the orphan-girl she rescued from the streets and promised to protect.
Freddie Lovel, Hale's wealthy Parisian suitor, seems to be the easy solution. If only his touch could arouse her interest like Beau's, the penniless stagehand who captures her heart.
Denying her fears, Hale is poised to choose love until an evil lurking in their cabaret-home launches a chain of events that could cost her everything.
Mature YA/light historical/theater romance

Interview with Leigh Talbert Moore,  Author of Rouge

Thanks for having me here today!

Is Rouge a stand alone or part of a series?

It’s actually the first book in a planned three- or four-book series. (The fourth book might end up being a prequel story.)

Can you share a little bit on what you are working on next?

Well, I can’t really tell you about Book 2 in the “Cheveux Roux” series or it’ll spoil Rouge. But I’ve got some other projects going! One’s a companion book to my debut YA rom-com The Truth About Faking. Another is a light science-fiction romance that’s a lot of fun. It’s got cows and aliens and is all set in the woods in south Mississippi…

What 3 words would you use to describe Hale and Beau? (3 for each)

Hale is loyal, brave, and stubborn.

Beau is impulsive, happy, and idealistic.

What is your favorite non spoiler scene in Rouge?

Hmm… Oh! I love the scene when Roland teaches Hale to kiss. It’s a memory she has of when they’re younger, and I think it came out really hot. (Roland was her first love.)

If you could jump into a book and live in that world, which would it be?

Well, Rouge is pretty dark and scary, so I wouldn’t want to live in that New Orleans. I’d probably pick Harley’s world from my other book, The Truth About Faking. She has problems and drama, but her problems are mainly self-imposed and funny. (Was this supposed to be my books or any book? If it’s any book, can I be a Sweet Valley High twin—LOL! Plush.)

What is something people would be surprised to know about you?

I’ve always been a shy person. (I know! Unbelievable, right?) As I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned I have to talk to people, and it’s really not so scary. But when I was younger, I was very quiet. When I was really younger, I used to hide behind my dad when people tried to talk to me. (LOL!)

If someone wrote a book about your life, what would the title be?

Hmm… Unexpected. At least it’s been unexpected to me. Or maybe Unpredictable. I never know how my plans are going to change, it seems.

What TV show/movie/book do you watch/read that you'd be embarrassed to admit?

Ew, good one. Let me see…

TV: I used to be very embarrassed to admit I watched The Vampire Diaries. It just seemed so dumb and Twilight wannabe. Now, not so much.

Movie: I’ll watch any movie, and I’m unashamed to admit it. I like getting the popcorn and sitting in the dark and watching this BIG event onscreen. It’s fun!

Books: Hmm… I wish I had more time to read, so now I’m forced to read things I really want to read. Oh! I did read this one book that was pretty embarrassing. It was erotica and the guys were really Satyrs and on the full moon they grew extra… OK! Keeping it family-friendly… LOL!

Who is your favorite book couple and why?

I love so many book couples… I’m always in love with the couple from the last book I read. The last book I read was Recaptured Dreams by Justine Dell. It’s really great and sexy. I think as long as the writer can conjure that chemistry and romance, I’m in!

Describe your book in 10 words or less…

Hale’s conning Freddie to help her escape, then Beau appears. (Complication!)

Thanks again for having me! And I hope everyone enjoys Rouge~
