Top Ten "Gateway" Books/Authors In My Reading Journey

Horse Books

So I was that little girl who loved horses and horse books.

The Complete Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery
I feel like this is a staple of being young

The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis
I guess I would have to say this was my gateway into Fantasy

The Chronicles of Prydain by Lloyd Alexander
Seriously this series solidified me into the realm of High Fantasy. I can still remember these books and I loved every second of them. There is actually a book where Taran goes off on his own (Taran Wanderer) and I thought that I wouldn't like it without a love story it turned out I did.

The Last Silk Dress by Ann Rinaldi
I read this book in like 4th grade or something ridiculous like that. At the time I don't think I understood all the themes at the time but I continued on with Ann Rinaldi and read almost all her books. She really gave me the historical fiction bug that later expanded into history in general. Including non-fiction.

Sailor Moon started my addiction to Manga (Japanese Comics) and Goong started my addiction to Manwha (Korean comics)

Harry Potter reminded me as an adult why I loved reading. I read the first 5 books in a week. (I was on medication that made me an insomniac and my friend gave me the books for something to do.)

Libba Bray's Gemma Doyle Series is what brought me back joy when I didn't have Harry Potter. lol. I would say more so than Twilight. I don't think I would have been open to Twilight without reading the Gemma Doyle series.

Hello World of Romance and Paranormal. Thank you J.R Ward....Thank you

My first YA Contemporary. I remembered the shock when I told some friends. Hey I read this awesome contemporary book.

So that's the gist of my list. What's on your list?
