BOOK TWO:
Northern Bites by Nikki Jefford
(Aurora Sky: Vampire Hunter #2)
Genres: New Adult, Paranormal, Urban Fantasy

Synopsis:
Love bites.
Probation sucks.

Thanks to Dante’s recklessness, Aurora is now partners with Valerie: the redheaded, backstabbing vixen.

Dante is in full flirt mode. Fane’s tactics are more ruthless. Something carnal has awakened in Aurora and neither boy is helping tame her cravings.

When a member of the unit’s team is found dead, Aurora and Valerie are sent after a vampire in Sitka, but Aurora suspects the killer’s much closer to home.

My Review

There are two things I definitely remembered when I started reading Northern Bites, first how book 1 ended and left me hanging. Secondly how much I absolutely dislike Valerie. I wanted Aurora to haul out and punch by the second page. Although I have to give Aurora credit for the nickname Strawberry Suck Cake. That made me laugh. I also have a bond with the books since Aurora and I have the same blood type. Besides all of that though Nikki Jefford has managed to blow me away with these books. There are so many things that I love about them.

Equally action packed as the first there were parts that I was freaking out right along with the characters. Think The Shinning…..it was so creepy. I love that when there is action, Aurora is focused on her job. She absorbed in her task at hand and doesn’t stand there and obsess over a guy while she is about to get killed. She tries to figure out how to not get killed.

Great characters in the book, even the characters that I hate because they stay true to who they are. Even if momentarily Aurora and Valerie get along. Valerie is still Valeries, she still has a massive attitude and she thinks Aurora is below her. I also like that even though strained Aurora and her mom have a good relationship. Her mom is not perfect but they honestly care about eachother. Dante and Aurora is also another favorite part of the book for me. I think their relationship definitely grows in Northern Bites. They have that cute flirty but also great friends kind of thing going for them. It wouldn’t take much to push them over the edge in to the romantic. Then of course there is Fane. Oh Fane, I can’t decide if I like you or don’t like you.

Another great plot, there are so many things going on and you don’t always know who is on your side and who isn’t. It’s fast paced and well developed. You don’t end up with any lag there is always something going and going down. The romance is perfect, although I’m upset with some things it’s just great how well Nikki balances the bigger plot points with the romance side. Like I said before it’s nothing that Aurora obsesses over, she’s got other things going on too. It does not drive the plot like it could.

So many things at the end. Ahhhhhh. Why does Nikki Jefford do this to me! I’m tortured I really am and I desperately need book 3 I can’t take it. It’s one of those things where I make different scenarios of how things can play out in my own head. Some serious book hangover.

BOOK ONE:
Aurora Sky by Nikki Jefford
(Aurora Sky: Vampire Hunter #1)
Genres: New Adult, Paranormal, Urban Fantasy

Her blood is toxic to vampires.

If there is one thing eighteen-year-old Aurora Sky wants, it's to get off the iceberg she calls home. Being kissed before she graduates wouldn't hurt either.

Then a near-fatal car wreck changes everything. Government agents step in and save Aurora's life in exchange for her services as a vampire hunter in Alaska. Basically she's a glorified chew toy. All thanks to her rare blood type, which sends a vampire into temporary paralysis right before she has to finish the job...by hand.

Now Aurora's only friends are groupies of the undead and the only boy she can think about may very well be a vampire.

(Mature YA/New Adult series. Contains mild language, violence, sexual situations . . . and blood sucking.)

Bookselling Time: Go to your biggest bookcases. Go to the second shelf from the top and pick out the sixth book from the left. Handsell that book to us - even if you haven’t read it or if you hated it. (if you don’t have bookcases, done have six books on one shelf, etc, pick a book at random)

Yay I feel like it's been forever since i've done an FF so I really wanted to this week. Although I'm not the best salesperson (even though I've worked in sales)

These are my very unorganized shelves. I actually had them all pretty not that long ago and then life went haywire with them again.

Hmmm so if I count right I'm supposed to sell......Pure by Jennifer L. Armentrout. Alright so let me tell you. I loved this series and ate up the books like candy. I haven't gotten to read the last one yet but I plan to do it this month. Pure is the second book in the series (if you count whole numbers) and wow what can I say. First off Alex is kick-ass, secondly Seth is got his own following and then there is Aiden. Seriously all I should have to say to you is........Aiden.......and it should make you want to read it.

Betwixt by Melissa Pearl Blog Tour #Review #Giveaway

Betwixt by Melissa Pearl
(Betwixt #1)
Publication date: November 5th 2012
Genres: Paranormal, Young Adult

Beautiful, wild-child Nicole Tepper is hit by a car and left for dead. But when she wakes the next morning, Nicole finds herself in bed without a scratch. Perhaps she was more intoxicated than usual, as her mother is giving her the silent treatment and her friends are ignoring her as well.

Things take a turn for the weird when Nicole soon discovers she is actually hovering between life and death. Her body is lying in the forest while her spirit is searching for anyone who can hear her. Unfortunately the only person who can is Dale Finnigan, the guy she publicly humiliated with a sharp-tongued insult that has left him branded.

Desperate, Nicole has no choice but to haunt Dale and convince the freaked-out senior to help her. Will he find her body before it’s too late? Or will the guy who tried to kill her with his car, beat him there and finish her off before anyone finds out?

My Review

So when I picked up Betwixt my intention was not to read it in one day. I actually just wanted to peek at a couple pages and figured I would read it on the weekend. Well a couple pages, became a few, then became a chapter and next thing I knew I read the whole book. I couldn't put the thing down!! I tried to and played the..I’ll just read a little more… The book captured me, held me hostage and said if you don’t finish this your mind will go crazy!

Nicky or Nicole as she prefers is kind of a bad kid. Get’s into trouble, skips school, drinks and parties and then one night walking home she gets hit by a car and everything changes. She’s trapped in this in between. Where she switched between her body and being a ghost and unfortunately the only person who can hear her is Dale. Someone that she was not so nice to so why should he help her. Besides that there is someone who wants to find her for more sinister reasons.

At first Nicky’s inner dialogue bugged me a little and I was thinking do I really want to be in this girls head. I quickly change my tune though and find myself sympathetic to her. Despite her bad attitude you can see there is more to her. As we get to know her and find out more about her life you understand her better. Doesn’t make her actions right or necessarily forgivable but it gives you a better sense of her.

I love Dale, he’s so cute and witty. You can just tell he is all around good guy. I also like that he doesn’t always put up with Nicole’s crap. They have fights too and he’s that guy that is going to call her on her crap.

I would consider the romance light but still adorable. The book is more about Nicole getting to look at her life from the outside. Learning things about herself and other people. It’s just such a great plot and very well written, it’s got a little bit of mystery too. I just really adored this book, it’s one of those great finds that you might not know about. So I’m telling you about it! Read it!

As a side note I devoured Beyond right after Betwixt.
