Feature and Follow

Feature and Follow Friday is a blog hop that is designed to provide some much-appreciated exposure to the bloggers participating, and to expand their following. Hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read, each of whom feature a chosen blog for the week, it's an interesting way to get to know one another.

If you would like to follow me, you can do so by GFC, Twitter or Linky (right side).

I also make sure to go back and follow everyone that comments and I try to always follow twitter along with GFC/Linky. So if you have a twitter that is not on your page for some reason leave it in the comments and I will follow you that way too!

Alison's Q: Best cover? What is the best cover of a book that you've read and loved?

This question is hard because there are so many cover that I have loved and also loved the book.

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
Everneath by Brodi Ashton

Are two of my absolute favorite covers of YA books that I have read. I actually also love the paperback version of The Night Circus and kind of want to buy it for that reason. Plus it's one of my favorite books. I still find myself staring at the cover of Everneath every once and in a while and I loved the book too!

Labor Day Read-A-Thon

Letters Inside Out button
Alright so I've been swamped at work and with two kids waiting for me when I get home, I'm lucky if I can get my eyes to focus to find my own bed let alone stay up reading. (kids bedtime is mommy read time). Since it's a holiday weekend, I thought hey why don't I give this Read-A-Thon a try and then I will need to do a Reveiw-A-Thon right after. So I'm going to try to knock out my TBR list and then I will post my progress here. Kind of like the Goodreads Status updates. So bring it on Labor Day weekend, with your Fantasy Football Draft party and two crazy kids running around.....Oh my can I do this.....

Cover Reveal: Chosen at Nightfall by C.C. Hunter

Chosen at Nightfall by C.C. Hunter
2013

I'm a fan of the new cover, especially the warm tones in the background. It's nice that even though there is a girl on the cover, she is not taking up the whole front. I love when there are added details around the focal point.

Of course what's a cover without a giveaway but you are going to have stop over at C.C. Hunter's blog for a chance to win, not only an awesome Shadows Falls t-shirt but an advanced readers copy of Whispers at Moonrise which hits stores in October. So many great things happen in October, so get on over there and leave a comment about how much you LOVE the new cover!

Another week gone already. I feel like time is flying by right now. I haven't been on a computer at all this weekend, except for right now of course. Hmm so what did I get for books this week, well Barnes and Noble was having a sale on Fantasy Adventure books, which is a great time to pick up paperbacks, since their hardcovers are normally 39% off already.

Delirium by Lauren Oliver
Legacy Cayla Kluver

So these books have been on my tbr list for a while and since they were only 5 dollars each, I thought why not pick them up. Which I did. Yay! My job is in one of it's busiest periods so I've been pretty exhausted. I'm excited for things to slow down hopefully soon so I can get reading like crazy.

Q: Worst cover? What is the worst cover of a book that you've read and loved?

This is a tough question. I can't think of any horrible covers of books I have loved. There are some really simple ones like Tuesdays with Morrie but I'm not sure about bad.

Book Haul: Sunday Post

Another crazy week for me as Summer is winding down. My son is turning 3 this week so we had his birthday party over the weekend so I'm getting to this post a little late. I have to say with Summer coming to a close we are getting closer to my favorite season, Fall and with Fall comes Pumpkin flavored goodies. I've already had all 3 different Pumpkin Lattes from Caribou coffe (they just started them on Friday), now if I could sit somewhere quiet and sip them while I read....then that would make for an even better day.

So my haul this week is pretty exciting. I'm part of the C.C. Hunter street team so I got my kit yesterday. Hooray!!

So Thanks to the always wonderful St. Martin's Press who sent me this nifty Shadow Falls bag, t-shirt, notebook, bookmarks, signed book plate and of course ARC of Whispers at Moonrise. I might have given it all a little hug...or a big hug. I'm excited to get the word out about the series.

If you haven't made it over to Jennifer L. Armentrout's blog to check out the laptop scene from Obsidian....well you are missing out so do it. Laptop Scene.

Alright I'm off to write a bunch of reviews. Thanks for stopping by!!

Q: What blogger inspires you? It can be any kind, it doesn't have to be a book blog.

The first book blog I really got into was Mundie Moms and I still really love that blog but I have to say that I'm always inspired by Author blogs. I love reading what's going on with the writers of the books I read.

Besides that I mostly read Tech, News and Mommy blogs. I really enjoy Cool Mom Picks and Cool Mom Tech, they are definitely awesome mom blogs.

So I spent the majority of my week on vacation. Hooray! We spent a lot of time in the car but I just can't read while traveling the way I did when I was a kid. Even just looking at my phone makes me car sick. So I didn't really get a ton of reading done and I didn't buy any books. I did stop at some local bookstores and of course found myself drawn to the New York Public Library, which I instantly feel in love with.

I came home to a happy surprise of books waiting for me so I do have some to
share!

I'm participating in the Nerve Blog Tour and so I'm part of the group reading the traveling Arc, so I've actually already read it and will be mailing it out to the next person on Monday.

A very cool signed and personaled Remembrance by Michelle Madow bookmark. Although I don't think bookmark is the right word for it since it's bigger but it will go in my book.

I won an ARC copy of Once by Anna Carey from Victoria Scott, because I stalk her blog.... I'm pretty excited to see what happens in this book. I feel like it's been many moons since I've read Eve. She also sent a Dante Walker bookmark....Mmm Dante Walker. Which if you haven't checked out his new site it's a must!

Q: What would you do over if you were to start your blog again from scratch?
I would like to do more with my design. I used to do more with designing but I just don't have the time anymore and now I'm rusty.

Review:

If anyone knows how to make a swoon worthy book its Jennifer L.  Armentrout. Onyx was everything I wanted and more and holy alien hotness the cliffhanger has me on the edge of my seat.
I loved Katy in this book even more than the first one. She has grown and changed and we see the progression of it. She becomes even more kick ass than the ending of Obsidian. There were times that I wanted to yell at her for being stupid, but then I thought about it and realized that I would have the same reaction. I think I love her character because I feel like I can relate to her so easily and it goes beyond the book loving/blogging. She is just very down to Earth and I love how she won’t make anything easy for Daemon. She makes sure that her voice is heard and won’t allow herself to become a push over.
If you loved Daemon and though he couldn’t get any sexier than you are absolutely wrong. Even though Daemon still has his attitude we see some more dimensions to him. There is something beyond that rough and gruff exterior but don’t get me wrong, even in the most serious situations he still has the perfect snarky comment. Just like in Obsidian, I loved his loyalty to the people he loves and I feel like he is not as candid about his feelings toward Katy as he was in the first book.
The plot of this book had me on edge; everything you thought you knew has been thrown out the window. Nothing is quite as it seems and you are never sure who to trust. I’m pretty sure I thought every person was the “bad guy” at some point. I loved that Jennifer threw in someone for Katy so that Daemon had a little bit more of a challenge. We also still have all the familiar characters and even have some twist in their lives too. It’s a plot that is well written and leaves you wanting to bang on the publishers door for Opal.
If you haven’t read this series, it’s a must!  It’s by far one of my favorites and I don’t think I could rave about it enough to do it justice!
