Plus I'm going to the Dark Days Tour signing and I will of course have to get all 4 authors books. Then there is BEA and Utopya Con that I'm definitely going to. RT which I keep debating but don't think I'll make it to this year. bummer it's in New Orleans somewhere I've really wanted to go. I'm hoping that I'll be ready to do some giveaways soon as I get a little more organized but here are my spoils I was lucky to get.

Make it a Double by Sawyer Bennett #BlogTour #BookReview

Make it a Double by Sawyer Bennett
Last Call, #2
Adult Contemporary Romance
Cover designed by Vitalink

Brody Markham has endured a nightmare, spending the last five years in prison and losing everything that was dear to him. Now he’s back home, trying to survive in a world he doesn’t recognize anymore. While his family and friends desperately try to reach through to him, he shelters himself further and further away from their love.
Alyssa Myers has worked her entire life to distance herself from the luxurious and privileged lifestyle in which she was raised. Running her non-profit agency, The Haven, she is content to spend her days helping abused animals find sanctuary, which fulfills her in a way that money just can’t buy.
Maybe it’s that she recognizes in Brody some of the same characteristics she sees in her homeless wards, but Alyssa is powerless to stop her personal quest to make Brody whole again.
While Brody struggles to surface from the darkness, Alyssa tries to protect her heart in case he’s not willing to accept the light that she offers him.

*MAKE IT A DOUBLE can be read as a stand-alone*

Make it a Double can be read as stand alone even though it’s part of The Last Call series. Which I actually come from that perspective since I haven’t had a chance to read the first one yet. They do reference some stuff from the first book and even though they summarize it for you so you're not lost I kind of felt like I need to go back and read the first one for a little more Brody backstory. I have to say with a Sawyer Bennett romance she has never done me wrong. There is always that angst smexy chemistry that I love to read, Alyssa and Brody deliver.

Alyssa and Brody are a lot alike in some respects they both love animals, take responsibility for their actions and are stubborn as all get out. It’s partially why they bond so easily. Plus they have mad crazy chemistry, Sawyer Bennett is definitely a master with that.

I love the story that surrounds them. They’ve know one another for a long time because Alyssa has been friends with Brody’s sister. He’s an ex-convict and she’s an heiress that would rather use her money for good then spend it frivolously. They both have serious ex issues for very different reason. They are super supportive of each other and even if they make mistakes and disagree on something they work it out.

One of my favorite parts of Make it a Double is that Alyssa is the aggressive one. She’s the one pursuing Brody when he decided he doesn’t want to take a chance. I like how she goads him into admitting things about his attraction to her. Plus she doesn’t back down and instigates a lot of their flirtiness.

Another great romance from the mind of Sawyer Bennett and I can’t wait to see which character we follow next in the series.
USA Today Best-Selling author, Sawyer Bennett, is a snarky southern woman and reformed trial lawyer who decided to finally start putting on paper all of the stories that were floating in her head. She is married to a mobster (well, a market researcher) and they have two big, furry dogs who hog the bed. Sawyer would like to report she doesn’t have many weaknesses but can be bribed with a nominal amount of milk chocolate.

My Not So Super Sweet Life by Rachel Harris #BlogTour #Excerpt #BookReview #Giveaway

Title: MY NOT SO SUPER SWEET LIFE
Author: Rachel Harris
Publisher: Entangled Teen
Pub. Date: April 21, 2014
Pages: 250

Cat Crawford just wants to be normal—or at least as normal as a daughter of Hollywood royalty can be. And it looks like fate is granting her wish: she’s got an amazing boyfriend, Lucas; her fabulous cousin, Alessandra, living with her; and her dad planning his second marriage to a great future stepmom. That is, until her prodigal mother reveals on national television that she has something important to tell her daughter…causing a media frenzy.

Lucas Capelli knows his fate is to be with Cat, and he’s worked hard to win her over once and for all. Unfortunately, Lucas has his own issues to deal with, including a scandal that could take him away from the first place he’s truly belonged.

As secrets are revealed, rumors explode, and the world watches, Cat and Lucas discover it’s not fate they have to fight if they want to stay together…this time, it’s their own insecurities.

Well, and the stalkerazzi.

“Holy red carpet, Batman,” I mutter, pressing my face against the tinted black window. We’re a block away from the theater, and the crowd is already staggering. Flashes light up in the distance, the noise is deafening even from in here, and all I want to do is head back home to the safety of flannel pajamas. This isn’t my first rodeo. I grew up going to premieres with Dad. But I don’t remember it ever looking this crazy.
Caterina jostles my knee, and I turn to see her dazzling smile directed at me. “This is exciting, right? I knew it would be huge, but I think the fans came out in droves.” She laughs lightly, like she has a secret. She notices me looking and leans in. “Ryan Seacrest had me on his show this morning. I was there doing general promo, you know, discussing what I have in the works, and I happened to mention the three of us were coming tonight. You should’ve seen the phone lines light up. The listeners went berserk!”
A rock settles in my gut, and my face must fall because her fluorescent smile dims.
“You don’t mind, do you? I figured our attendance could create a little extra buzz for Marlena.”
Marlena Adams is the world-famous director of the film, and Mom’s good friend. They’ve done several movies and frequently show up together at events like this.
Is it weird that I’m jealous of an almost middle-aged woman?
“Of course I don’t mind.” I glance at Ransom, sitting across from me in his black tuxedo. He’s rocked it out as much as possible—black on black, top two buttons undone, sunglasses hanging from his lapel. But watching his guitar pick seamlessly flow from one knuckle to the next, I can tell he’s as jazzed about this public foray as I am. “We’re glad to help.”
Rance snorts under his breath. We still haven’t gotten a chance to talk, really talk without Caterina or camera-toting vermin listening in, but it’s on my to-do list tonight. He’s the one person out of all of this that may just understand. He’s in the muck of it as much as I am. And the more time we spend together, the more this feeling of connection grows. Not the same kind I felt when I first saw Lucas, as if the universe was pointing in flashing neon, saying, “Look here! This guy is for you.” This feeling is gentler, easier. But no less real.
Caterina releases a relieved breath. “Good, I’m glad. I know this scene can be crazy at times. Living in a fish bowl. But it’s really not all that bad.” Reaching over, she takes my hand in hers. “Just be yourself out there, and you’ll be fabulous. You’re a natural, and they are going to love you.”
It’s as close as my mom has ever come to telling me the L word. A well of emotion builds in my sinuses, and I’m this close to ruining my makeup. I squeeze her hand, a wide smile breaking across my face, and say, “Thanks, Mom.”
Her answering wink is so full of life and affection, I want to capture it on canvas and stare at it forever.
Then the limo rolls to a stop, and she tugs her phone out of her clutch. We’re behind a few cars, but that doesn’t stop the crowd from noticing us. As Caterina chats with whoever is on the other end—a publicist, manager, or one of her many minions—the attention starts. First, just a few heads turn. Then a dozen more. Questions come flying at our closed door, flashes go off, and I throw myself back into my seat.
Logically, I know they can’t see me through the tinted windows…but try telling that to my skyrocketing pulse.
My stomach locks, my heart is in my throat.
Where the heck’s a brown paper bag when you need one?
Resorting to the techniques they teach pregnant women in movies, I breathe through clenched teeth and pursed lips. “He, he, hooooo. He, he, hooooo.”
I feel like an idiot. I have no clue if it’s helping or not. But at least I’m no longer focused on the terrifying crowd. That’s a plus.
“He, he, hoooo.”
A negative would be Mom craning a dark eyebrow in my direction like I’m a wacko, but she just pats me on the knee and continues talking on her phone, as I continue breathing.
Rance scrunches his nose. “You all right there?”
I nod through the exhale. “Peachy.”

Off the bat I loved Rachel Harris’s Super Sweet Series, they are books that are cute and fun to read. Even though they have conflict they still have that pick me up quality. My No So Super Sweet Life is revisiting Cat’s story and how she deals with life without the time travel aspect. Her and Lucas are officially together (after she got past the whole doppelganger thing) and navigating your normal teen relationship. Well normal except when you add a famous mother and a father who has lost himself to the mix.

We get two perspectives in MNSSSL, both Cat and Lucas. I liked that we get to be in Lucas’s head for this one. I was sad that Alessandra and Austin although present have smaller roles. I kind of missed them I admit. I also missed Reyna but she’s gone but not well gone don’t worry you get her taste of her in this book.

Cat has some issues still that were not fully resolved in the first book. Although she grew and learn to become more open. Which meant including Jenna in her life and letting Alessandra and Lucas past her walls. She’s definitely got some unfinished issues with her mom. When Cat’s mom shows up again she has to take a big risk in order to get the chance to have her mom back or finally put the nail in that coffin.

One thing I really liked about the mom issues is how everyone else couldn’t really understand. Jenna, Alessandra and even Lucas wanted her to stay away from the crazy. Expected Cat to deal with the situation by sending her mom off and saying don’t come back. I felt that was more realistic and the fact that Cat had to deal with people might not understand why she wanted to reconnect with her mom. It’s easy to say that as an outside source but not so easy as the person dealing with it.

Something that bothered me about Cat was that she was so wrapped up in our own issues she was kind of missing out on things with Lucas. He finally confronts his dad about soccer, his brothers death and has to deal with the possibility of moving that always seems to be looming over their heads. Of course there were times that I was frustrated with Lucas for not understanding why Cat wants that mom connection even though it might not pan out. All part of the relationship learning curve.

The book has a good dynamic amongst it’s characters and a fun little surprise that I won’t spoil for you. Even though Reyna is not present that doesn’t mean the stars are not still at work.

I love this series and My Not So Super Sweet Life is a great addition. I walked away with a smile on my face per usual.

As a teen, Rachel Harris threw raging parties that shook her parents’ walls and created embarrassing fodder for future YA novels. As an adult, she reads and writes obsessively, rehashes said embarrassing fodder, and dreams up characters who become her own grown up version of imaginary friends.
She grew up in New Orleans, watching soap operas with her grandmother and staying up late sneak reading her mam's favorite romance novels. Now a Cajun cowgirl living in Houston, she still stays up too late reading her favorite romances, only now, she can do so openly. She firmly believes life's problems can be solved with a hot, powdered-sugar-coated beignet or a thick slice of king cake, and that screaming at strangers for cheap, plastic beads is acceptable behavior in certain situations.
She homeschools her two beautiful girls and loves watching reality television with her amazing husband. She writes young adult, new adult, and adult Fun, Flirty Escapes, and LOVES talking with readers!

The Accidental Socialite by Stephanie Wahlstrom #BlogTour #BookReview #Giveaway

The Accidental Socialite
by Stephanie Wahlstrom
Release Date: 04/15/14
Swoon Romance

Summary from Goodreads:
Quirky and clumsy twenty-two-year-old Paige Crawford arrives in London on a cold Saturday in January. Just when Paige starts to think that moving thousands of miles away from home with no real plan was a bad idea, Jason Frost appears. Confident and classy, Jason is the complete opposite of Paige and just what she needs in her life, or so she thinks.

But before their romance has time to blossom, Paige trips and falls into the arms of a mysterious man on a drunken night out. She’s snapped by paparazzi, and newspaper headlines the next day suggest that she’s having an affair with a married footballer.

Paige finds herself instantly elevated to tabloid celebrity status which isn’t exactly a picnic, particularly when trying to juggle her new job at Fashionista magazine, a catalog of dating disasters and a nagging doubt that she maybe she can’t conquer London after all.

When a trip back to Canada for Christmas reminds Paige why she left her old life behind, she returns to London with renewed vigor realizing that while jobs, flats and men may come and go, friends in London are forever.

The Accidental Socialite is a little bit on the bat shit crazy side and a whole lot of fun. It’s weird to say a read like this is relaxing because so many things were going on in the book but it was. I really enjoyed the hilarity of it and the characters. I could gush how much of a fun read this is.

Paige decides she’s going to give her life a spin on the wheel of fate and just up and moves from Canada to London. Not only is she faced with some serious culture shock but also finds herself in some interesting predicaments that lead her to becoming a sort of celebrity. Do you ever flip through a magazine and think who the heck is that person and why do we care about her, that’s Paige. With the insta fame and stalkerazzi comes a kick butt job at Fashionista and VIP access some of the most exclusive clubs, the bubbly never stops flowing.

I liked Paige a lot. She made me laugh and the things that happen to her are things that would happen to me. Pickle sandwiches are not made with Pickles? Fanny Packs...well do you even want to go there and so forth. She has to not only deal with some really crazy roommates, I love when she ranks how psycho they each are, to understanding the difference in the slang. Actually the difference between what many things are called. Every Time she was riding the Tube I was picturing her sitting on television or a tube of toothpaste. I don’t think I’ve ever read a book that addresses the fact that it would be really hard to adapt in that respect. People go to London and they speak English so no biggie right. Wrong, there are so many words that have different meanings. Hey that girl is pissed….umm do you mean mad, going pee or just drunk...

I loved Lucinda and their insta friendship after meeting at the cafe and the way she tells it how it is. She doesn’t let Paige fall into a hole of despair and she has some serious wisdom sharing at the end. Sometimes I couldn’t decide if Carlos was a total asshat or awesome friend. Turns out he’s an awesome friend sometimes disguised as an asshat. The book revolves more around these characters friendships then it does a particular romantic relationship. It was fun to see Paige dating different guys and have different experiences rather than just focus on one guy to get all lovey dovey about, although there are guys who make reappearances. I love romance and I love romance stories but it was nice to read something that is really focused on the main character who doesn’t need a steady man to make her interesting. Paige is this whirlwind all on her own. With a couple of friends who have got her back and go on adventures with her.

This book was such a fun read. I really thought the craziness going on with Paige made me feel more relaxed about the craziness in my life. Like hey at least someone isn’t dragging a wet mattress into my house. If you are looking for something fun definitely pick up this book.

Growing up in Edmonton, Canada, a significant amount of Stephanie’s time was spent making up and acting out stories. She was studying to be an actress when she realized there weren’t any parts for women being written. So, Stephanie wrote herself a short screenplay just to be in it, and quickly realized that writing was her true passion. She graduated from the University of Alberta with an English and Sociology degree and she also has a Bachelor of Motion Picture Arts from Red Deer College. After a fateful trip to Mexico in 2006, Stephanie decided to move to New York City to work in film development. A year later she went back home to write My Green House, a factual TV series. Stephanie moved to London in 2008 and aside from being obsessed with eggs benedict, fruit roll- ups and travelling, she also works in children’s television. The Accidental Socialite is her first novel.
