Title: Starling
Author: Lesley Livingston
Pub Date: August 28, 2012

"Love is just the beginning... of the end."

Mason Starling is a champion fencer for Gosforth Academy, but she’s never had to fight for her life. Until now. When a ferocious storm rips through Manhattan and unleashes terrifying creatures onto Gosforth’s campus, Mason barely escapes alive. Without help from the mysterious stranger who appeared in the midst of the storm, she might not have made it at all. But now, in the aftermath, Mason’s life begins to spin dramatically, mystically out of control, and the only one who seems able to help her is the stranger who can remember nothing but his name: Fennrys Wolf.

As Mason and Fenn uncover more about Fenn’s past and the strange events that surround them, they realize that Mason’s family — and its dark allegiance to the ancient Norse gods — is at the center of everything. A predetermined fate seems to be closing in on Mason, but is it possible to change one’s destiny?

This book just has really peaked my interest.

Title: My Super Sweet Sixteenth Century
Author: Rachel Harris
Pub Date: September 11, 2012

On the precipice of her sixteenth birthday, the last thing lone wolf Cat Crawford wants is an extravagant gala thrown by her bubbly stepmother and well-meaning father. So even though Cat knows the family’s trip to Florence, Italy, is a peace offering, she embraces the magical city and all it offers. But when her curiosity leads her to an unusual gypsy tent, she exits . . . right into Renaissance Firenze.

Thrust into the sixteenth century armed with only a backpack full of contraband future items, Cat joins up with her ancestors, the sweet Alessandra and protective Cipriano, and soon falls for the gorgeous aspiring artist Lorenzo. But when the much-older Niccolo starts sniffing around, Cat realizes that an unwanted birthday party is nothing compared to an unwanted suitor full of creeptastic amore.

Can she find her way back to modern times before her Italian adventure turns into an Italian forever?

I'm really looking forward to this book. It reminds me a little of one of my favorite manwha comics. It's such a great idea for a book and you have to think about it, how could it end. If she goes home she leaves the guy she's falling for, if she doesn't she's trapped in the past. I'm so excited to find out!

Since the car crash that took her father’s life three years ago, Emma’s life has been a freaky—and unending—lesson in caution. Surviving “accidents” has taken priority over being a normal seventeen-year-old, so Emma spends her days taking pictures of life instead of living it. Falling in love with a boy was never part of the plan. Falling for a reaper who makes her chest ache and her head spin? Not an option.

It’s not easy being dead, especially for a reaper in love with a girl fate has put on his list not once, but twice. Finn’s fellow reapers give him hell about spending time with Emma, but Finn couldn’t let her die before, and he’s not about to let her die now. He will protect the girl he loves from the evil he accidentally unleashed, even if it means sacrificing the only thing he has left...his soul.

I love the whole concept of this story. I can't wait to read it.

Author: Libba Bray
Pub Date: September 18, 2012

Evie O'Neill has been exiled from her boring old hometown and shipped off to the bustling streets of New York City--and she is pos-i-toot-ly thrilled. New York is the city of speakeasies, shopping, and movie palaces! Soon enough, Evie is running with glamorous Ziegfield girls and rakish pickpockets. The only catch is Evie has to live with her Uncle Will, curator of The Museum of American Folklore, Superstition, and the Occult--also known as "The Museum of the Creepy Crawlies."
When a rash of occult-based murders comes to light, Evie and her uncle are right in the thick of the investigation. And through it all, Evie has a secret: a mysterious power that could help catch the killer--if he doesn't catch her first.

I'm excited for this book because I love Libba Bray's Gemma Doyle series and I've been hankering for her to write another historical fiction series. So hooray! September is a long way away.

Title: Enchanted
Author: Alethea Kontis
Pub Date: May 8, 2012

"It isn't easy being the rather overlooked and unhappy youngest sibling to sisters named for the other six days of the week. Sunday’s only comfort is writing stories, although what she writes has a terrible tendency to come true.

When Sunday meets an enchanted frog who asks about her stories, the two become friends. Soon that friendship deepens into something magical. One night Sunday kisses her frog goodbye and leaves, not realizing that her love has transformed him back into Rumbold, the crown prince of Arilland—and a man Sunday’s family despises.

The prince returns to his castle, intent on making Sunday fall in love with him as the man he is, not the frog he was. But Sunday is not so easy to woo. How can she feel such a strange, strong attraction for this prince she barely knows? And what twisted secrets lie hidden in his past - and hers?"

I'm intrigued by this since I loved The Frog Prince by the Grimm Brothers when I was a little girl. Of course that was a short story and there have been many different versions since then. I like how as a frog they are friends and she loves him but when he turns back into a Prince she is not interested in him. Sounds like a fun story.

"Lately strange things have been happening to Daire Santos. Animals follow her, crows mock her, and glowing people appear out of nowhere. A call to her true destiny as a Soul Seeker, one who can navigate between the worlds of the living and the dead. Her grandmother immediately begins teaching her to harness her powers—but it’s an art that must be mastered quickly. Because Dace’s brother is an evil shape-shifter who’s out to steal her powers. Now Daire must embrace her fate as a Soul Seeker and find out if Dace is one guy she’s meant to be with...or if he’s allied with the enemy she’s destined to destroy."
~goodreads

I was easily drawn in by this cover. I love the Native American feel with the dream catcher earrings and the nature background. I wasn't necessarily fond of the The Immortals series. I did read the first book but didn't feel a burning need to continue the series. I did like Alyson's writing though so I'm willing to give this series a shot.

I loved Fairy Tales when I was a kid. I think I read every single fairy tale book in the library and then my mom started buying me nicer volumes of them. So when there are updated and modernized version of my favorite stories I swoon. I absolutely love it! This is my selection of modernized fairy tales I wouldn't mind reading.

Title: The Immortal Rules
Author: Julie Kagawa
Publish Date: April 24th 2012

"Allison Sekemoto survives in the Fringe, the outermost circle of a vampire city. By day, she and her crew scavenge for food. By night, any one of them could be eaten.

Some days, all that drives Allie is her hatred of them. The vampires who keep humans as blood cattle. Until the night Allie herself is attacked—and given the ultimate choice. Die… or become one of the monsters.

Faced with her own mortality, Allie becomes what she despises most. To survive, she must learn the rules of being immortal, including the most important: go long enough without human blood, and you will go mad.

Then Allie is forced to flee into the unknown, outside her city walls. There she joins a ragged band of humans who are seeking a legend—a possible cure to the disease that killed off most of humankind and created the rabids, the mindless creatures who threaten humans and vampires alike.

But it isn't easy to pass for human. Especially not around Zeke, who might see past the monster inside her. And Allie soon must decide what—and who—is worth dying for.

Includes an exclusive excerpt from the next Iron Fey novel, out November 2012."

I wasn't sure about this book at first. I love The Iron Fey series but I was afraid that I wouldn't like vampires as much. I have no idea why. After watching the book trailer I'm really excited for this book. I can't wait to read it.

For Darkness Shows the Stars by Diana Peterfreund
Release date: June 12, 2012

"Generations ago, a genetic experiment gone wrong—the Reduction—decimated humanity, giving rise to a Luddite nobility who outlawed most technology.

Eighteen-year-old Luddite Elliot North has always known her place in this caste system. Four years ago Elliot refused to run away with her childhood sweetheart, the servant Kai, choosing duty to her family’s estate over love. But now the world has changed: a new class of Post-Reductionists is jumpstarting the wheel of progress and threatening Luddite control; Elliot’s estate is floundering; and she’s forced to rent land to the mysterious Cloud Fleet, a group of shipbuilders that includes renowned explorer Captain Malakai Wentforth—an almost unrecognizable Kai. And while Elliott wonders if this could be their second chance, Kai seems determined to show Elliot exactly what she gave up when she abandoned him.

But Elliot soon discovers her childhood friend carries a secret—-one that could change the society in which they live…or bring it to its knees. And again, she’s faced with a choice: cling to what she’s been raised to believe, or cast her lot with the only boy she’s ever loved, even if she has lost him forever.

Inspired by Jane Austen’s PERSUASION, FOR DARKNESS SHOWS THE STARS is a breathtaking romance about opening your mind to the future and your heart to the one person you know can break it."

First like many books I was attracted by the cover but then I read the synopsis and it fascinated me. I like the Sci-Fi Dystopia mix sound of it. I also like that she originally choose duty over love and now the guy is back and not all is instantly forgotten. That really intrigued me.

Goodreads

This is the 10th book in the series and I've already got it on pre-order. My best friend had actually recommended this series to me and told me to not bother by a book at a time to get the box set. Well at first I was like romance....really. So I didn't listen to her and just bought the first book and I came to realization of....why on Earth have I not been reading romance books all this time. I loved the series and bought up the books like a crazed maniac. Now I always by them as soon as they are released. I'm excited for this to be Tohr's book. J.R. Ward has said that as long as people want to read about the brothers, she will keep writing the books.

Title: Temptation of Angles

This is another of those books that I went back and forth on. The cover didn't really catch my eye at first, I'm not sure why. I do really like it but after seeing it show up on a few blogs over and over and the blurb about the hot childhood friend trying to kill her. Well it's definitely peaked my interest. I can see myself buying this right when it comes out.

I wasn't originally that interested in the book. I kind of felt so-so about. Recently though after reading different reviews and the cover catching my eye over and over again. I've found myself double checking to see when it's going to be released. I'm just hoping it doesn't disappoint.

?
" ~goodreads

I love this cover, there is something that draws me to it. Especially since I like to stare at it and think, is that just a shadow behind her back on the wall or is it a wing. It wasn't just the cover that has enticed me to be excited about this book, I can pretty much be won over with the word Chicago. Yay landmarks and things I will actually know! I feel like New York has a tendency to be a hot spot for things happening in books, so I'm excited for the change of pace. Can't wait.

Title: Born Wicked
Author: Jessica Spotswood
Publish Date: Feb. 7, 2012

"Blessed with a gift..."cursed" with a secret."
Everybody knows Cate Cahill and her sisters are eccentric. Too pretty, too reclusive, and far too educated for their own good. But the truth is even worse: they're witches. And if their secret is discovered by the priests of the Brotherhood, it would mean an asylum, a prison ship - or an early grave.
Before her mother died, Cate promised to protect her sisters. But with only six months left to choose between marriage and the Sisterhood, she might not be able to keep her word . . . especially after she finds her mother's diary, uncovering a secret that could spell her family's destruction. Desperate to find alternatives to their fate, Cate starts scouring banned books and questioning rebellious new friends, all while juggling tea parties, shocking marriage proposals, and a forbidden romance with the completely unsuitable Finn Belastra.
If what her mother wrote is true, the Cahill girls aren't safe. Not from the Brotherhood, the Sisterhood - not even from each other." ~goodreads

The reviews have been promising for this book and I love anything about witches or gypsies. The reason I haven't purchased it yet is simply because Jessica Spotswood is coming to my local bookstore next week and I'm not sure if I can make it to the signing. If I do, I can only have her sign a copy of the book if I purchased it at their store (smart right). So this little darling is just going to have to wait until next week.
