Q: What New Years Blogging or Writing resolution have you placed on yourself?

I actually just posted some up today Welcome to 2013

Two of the biggies though are that I want to get my reviews out faster and I want to comment on other blogs more.

Q: What book do you think everyone should read? If you could gift the entire population with one book?

Of course Harry Potter is one of my top choices. I love Sirius so I'm a big fan of the Prisoner of Azkaban. I feel like the series took on a darker tone after that. Which I liked.

I also think everyone should read The Night Circus there is just something about the story and the way the book is written. I still think about it periodically which to me is a sign of an amazing book. I definitely wear my red scarf proudly.

Q: What is the last book that made you cry? Tell us about the scene...

I don't know if I can think of any book that has made me cry honestly. Usually when I bust in to full on tears it's because something else is going on in my life that relates to it. My dad right now is battling cancer so if I see something about cancer it gets me emotional. I think I would cry more if I read more contemporary books. I do get upset when characters die though. I have to tell you I am still upset about (spoiler if you haven't read Harry Potter) Sirius Black. I might have cried for that.

Q: Activity! Who do you want to be? If you could choose any character from a book. What do you think that character looks like and what do you have in common?

Hmm this is actually kind of hard. I think I might be Aria from Under the Never Sky. I might just have that book on the brain right now though. I think what I have in common with her would be the whole stubborn thing. I could see me acting the way she acts with Perry.

When I think about what she looks like, I picture the book cover. I look nothing like her of course.

Q: Activity! Who is your to-die-for book crush? What do you think they look like? Add an image to make us all happy.

This is a fun question today and to think I forgot what day it is I almost forgot to participate. My to die for book crush. Daemon Black from the Lux series of course and I don't even have to try to picture him because they did that with the wonderful cover model Pepe. Who I have met and is just as hot in person. Would run away with him in a nano second.

Q: What is a deal breaker for you in a book? For example, do you abhor love triangles? Or can't deal with bad editing?

I have a hard time when I don't like a main character. If the main character is spending the majority of the book getting on my nerves then it makes it difficult to read. Sometimes side characters will make up for it but it's rough. I'm not talking about when I get frustrated with a main character because there are moments like that in every book, it's the don't open the door the murderer is on the other side thing.

Q: What writing device or trick most irritates you when reading a book? For example, if an author employs an omnipotent narrator that is sometimes considered bad form.

This is an interesting question but I'm really not sure. I can sometimes get annoyed when there is too much dialogue or it's just rambled dialogue I suppose. Hmm I know I'm probably forgetting something where I think. Ugh that's annoying.

Q: What book do you think would make a great Halloween movie? Please explain in graphic detail of goriness...

I don't usually read gory books that I can think of. Lately the books I've read have all been Greek Mythology. Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake is probably the closest that I can think of as traditional Halloween. Perhaps something like Four Houses by Victoria Scott and Two and Twenty Dark Tales (anthology) would be pretty good short movies. They are really creepy and fascinating at the same time.

P.S. (I used to love to write that in snail mail letters for some reason) Make sure to stop by Saturday for the Apollyon by Jennifer L. Armentrout cover reveal and the Deity trailer reveal...Umm I've read Deity and the trailer gave me chills just thinking about the book again. Plus there will also be a little something extra awesome with it. :o)

Q: What is the BIGGEST word you've seen used in a book lately - that made you stop and look it up? Might as well leave the definition & book too.

I haven't run into any words that are too big for me to understand lately but sometimes I get fake language mixed up. When an author creates a fantasy world there are a bunch of words they created themselves. Usually they have their own little dictionary in the book and I often have to double check the meaning.

Q: Christmas in July! Someone gives you a gift card for two books (whatever that costs). What two books will you buy?

Hmmm soo many books but the ones I really want I already have. I would probably get A Want so Wicked and Tiger Lily

Now if I'm really dreaming I would want first editions of all the Harry Potter books signed. :o)

Q: What is the one thing that you wish you could tell your favorite author?

This is a hard question partly because there are so many authors that I love, I'm not sure I could pick a favorite one anymore. I would tell them though how awesome I think they are. Not just because their books are awesome but also because when you attend a book signing or read their blog they are personable. I would want to tell them that I think it's unbelievable that they can take an idea from their head and put it to paper and I admire them for that. It seems to me that publishing a book is really putting yourself out there because people can be harsh. I admire and respect them for that. So in simple terms I would love to tell my favorite authors that they are amazing and talented people.

I'm an ultimate author fan girl.

Q: Have you had a character that disappointed you? One that you fell in love with and then "broke up" with later on in either the series or a stand-alone book? Tell us about him or her.

This is a hard question for me because usually it's the opposite. I don't like a character in the beginning but they grow on me later on. Alison brought up a good one though that I agree with Gale from The Hunger Games. I felt like I expected so much more from him but his character really fell flat in the last book.

Q: What is one book that you would be nervous to see a movie adaption of because you think the movie could never live up to the book?

A. I feel like I feel this way about all movies that come out that are from books. It's so hard to condense down a book into a movie. Even though I liked the Hunger Games movie I noticed all the things that they had left out but I understood they had to.

Q: Have you ever bought a book BECAUSE of a bad review?

I haven't ever specifically gone out of my way to buy a book with a bad review. It doesn't stop me from buying one though. I actually sometimes like to read bad reviews while I'm reading a book so I can see if I see what the reviewer is seeing. Guess what, most of the time I disagree but it's still kind of fun to compare.

Q: What is the longest book you've read? What are your favorite 600+ page reads?

I actually had to get up and look at my bookshelf for this one. Even though some books seemed like they were that long they only came in at about the 500 something range. The winner is...

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
page count: 870

I loved this series of course. They would decorate our downtown area to be like Diagon Alley for the midnight book releases. Lots of fun.

What are my favorites besides that. Well Libba Bray's Gemma Doyle series. The 3rd book is actually the only one that comes in at over 600 pages.

The Sweet Far thing by Libba Bray
819 pages
A couple of my other favorite 600+ pagers are also from the Harry Potter series. I thought for sure my historical biographies would make the cut but I guess not.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling
759 pages

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling
652 pages
