When she least expects it, sixteen-year old Holly Burton’s unremarkable life is shaken to the core. A vision of the mother Holly never knew leaves her questioning everything she believes.

Eager for answers, Holly enrolls at a boarding school for highly gifted students in Wolfebane, New Hampshire. But things will get worse before they get better, as Holly accidentally transports to a parallel existence where she's confronted by a dark and ancient evil.

With the help of Joss, a sexy alpha warrior sworn to protect her, and her new BFF, the equally swoon-worthy Quinn, Holly faces her fears and an unlikely adversary in a showdown that is worse than anything she could’ve possibly imagined …

Praise for Scion of the Sun:

“Charmed and drawn in by Holly’s spunk and snark, Scion of the Sun will leave you spinning and falling for Joss right along with Holly. Marsh’s unique story is packed with action, mystery, romance and suspense. This is not to be missed!” – Jennifer L. Armentrout, USA TODAY Bestselling Author

Interview with Nicola Marsh

With two new YA novels at the end of this year, one of which is your debut into the genre. What made you decide to venture into the world of YA?

I hadn’t read YA for years, then rode the Twilight phenomenon and got hooked again. For twelve months I rarely read anything other than YA. Became absolutely addicted to it and just had to write my own!

You were a physiotherapist for 13 years before you decided to drastically change careers. What led to that change?

I’d always said ‘I want to write a book one day’ so I actually did it rather than talk about it. I was lucky enough to sell fairly quickly, around the time I was 5 months pregnant, and once the royalties kicked in I never went back to physiotherapy. Writing is my dream job!

You have written more than 40 books in just 12 years. How do you keep up that level of creativity? Are you blessed with a lack of writer’s block?

I actually don’t believe in writer’s block. I think no matter how exhausted or how bad life gets, I need to sit my butt down in a chair and write. Writing is my job. I couldn’t afford to get ‘blocked’ in any other occupation and writing is no different. Powering through the tough stuff and persisting when the characters don’t behave is paramount.

How do your Australian roots play a role in your books?

I love setting most of my books in Australia and have done for most of my contemporary adult romances. Which is ironic, considering both my YA releases this year, Scion of the Sun and Banish, have nothing to do with Australia.
Though I did squeeze in a sexy Aussie hero in my upcoming debut New Adult novel, BEFORE.

What are you currently reading?

In the Midnight Rain by Ruth Wind. Barbara O’Neal is one of my favourite all time authors and this is one of her earlier books. It’s beautifully written, as all her books are. Highly evocative and so lush.

Next Project?

I need to write book 2 in the Solar Snatchers series, ‘Seeker of the Sun’, where Holly gets into even more trouble.
And I’m starting on a brand new NA series too.
