Welcome to my stop for the Sex on the Beach Blog Tour. My stop is featuring a review for Between Us by Jen McLaughlin

March 4, 2014
New Adult Contemporary Romance
One of the “Sex on the Beach” Novellas

I’m just a girl…
I’m a famous country star who’s spent her life cultivating a good girl persona to avoid bad press, but I’ve reached my limit. I’m going away for spring break with my two best friends from college, and we’ve vowed to spend the vacation seeking out fun in the sun—along with some hot, no-strings-attached sex. The only thing I needed was the perfect guy, and then I met Austin Murphy. He might be totally wrong for me, but the tattooed bad boy is hard to resist. When I’m in his arms, everything just feels right.

And I’m just a guy…
I’m just a bartender who lives in Key West, stuck in an endless cycle of boredom. But then Mackenzie Forbes, America’s Sweetheart herself, comes up to me and looks at me with those bright green eyes…and everything changes. She acts like she’s just a normal girl and I’m just a normal guy, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. My past isn’t pretty, you know. I did what I had to do to survive, and she’d run if she learned the truth about my darkness. But with her, I’m finally realizing what it’s like to be alive. To laugh, live, and be happy.

All good things must come to an end...

I loved Between Us it was so adorable. Jen McLaughlin is good at creating that couple that fits together in all the right ways. This is a cute read and it’s short so if your feeling like you want to just snuggle up with something one night this is the perfect book for you.

Mac and her friends decide to go on vacation together in order to get laid. Alright so it seems like a crazy idea but Mackenzie is in the public eye as country singer and she wants to have a fling that’s not plastered all over the tabloids. Enter Austin the sexy seemingly bad boy who captures her interest. Mackenzie thinks she’s incognito, Austin thinks it’s cute that she thinks she is. They get together and magic happens.

Now Mackenzie has some trust issues and Austin has his own demons. I really liked how things were dealt with in this story because nothing was crazy drawn out. When Mac accuses Austin of certain things it’s not like it takes long for the truth to come to light and for her to realize she’s being a jerk. I also think the way Austin reacts is totally natural too.

No insta-love!! The thing I like is that this take place over a week. Of course they are not in love and they basically say that. When they think they might prolong it, it’s not because they are so in love they can’t contain themselves it’s the, well I could see this becoming something more than a fling. Love love love that!! You go Jen!

Mackenzie and Austin are just adorable and I really loved them as characters. I also like the closeness that Mackenzie has with her two besties, which you can actually read about them in Beyond Me by Jennifer Probst and/or Before You by Jenna Bennet, which is also part of the Sex on the Beach series.

So I say grab your mug of whatever, snuggle in and read this book. Psst and don’t worry you get some sexy time in here too.
