Frozen meets Mad Max in this epic teen fantasy duology bursting with star-crossed romance, immortal heroines, and elemental magic, perfect for fans of Furyborn.

Generations of twin goddesses have long ruled Aeon. But seventeen years ago, one sister’s betrayal defied an ancient prophecy and split their world in two. The planet ceased to spin, and a Great Abyss now divides two realms: one cloaked in perpetual night, the other scorched by an unrelenting sun.

While one sister rules Aranth—a frozen city surrounded by a storm-wracked sea —her twin inhabits the sand-locked Golden City. Each goddess has raised a daughter, and each keeps her own secrets about her sister’s betrayal.

But when shadowy forces begin to call their daughters, Odessa and Haidee, back to the site of the Breaking, the two young goddesses —along with a powerful healer from Aranth, and a mouthy desert scavenger —set out on separate journeys across treacherous wastelands, desperate to heal their broken world. No matter the sacrifice it demands.

I really liked The Never Tilting World but I”m also a big Rin Chupeco fan. I think you sometimes find authors whose writing is always a good fit for you and I felt like this is another story that drew me in and haunts me like her other books.

We have four perspectives in the book and I loved first of all how they are divided, and how they are entitled for each chapter. It made reading pretty seamless. Honestly if you liked characters more than others you could follow along one thread of the story. You’d probably be lost but you know to each their own. Anyway I thought it was well done and not confusing which can sometimes be a problem. It was very clear who each character was and their own individual depth.

Haidee is my favorite character. She’s so empathetic and quirky. Plus she loves has that whole awesome steampunk thing going for her. She reminds me of Rikku from Final Fantasy, who happens to be one of my favorite characters. So it wasn’t hard to bond with her. When we start getting towards the end, I was hoping she wasn’t THAT twin but then I’m like wait I should be rooting for both of them. Haidee is confident and truly believes in doing the right thing, for her people and the world. She wants to find a way to save everyone including creatures.

Now flipping to the other side of the world. I think my second favorite perspective is Lan. She is seriously just really awesome and mature. She suffers from PTSD from an incident that occurred to her team. She’s so strong though and she overcomes so much. Plus she’s just a kick butt leader that you can admire. Her genuine love for Odessa though is so sweet and enduring.

Arjun! I loved Arjun too. Maybe I can’t really choose between characters. He’s so funny from the beginning to the end. I love how he acts all hard and recluse but he’s just a softy. It comes out as he spends time with Haidee. It was fun to see him open with her. Especially with duloungs. Ha ha.

Odessa is someone I had mixed feelings about at times. Even though I knew some of her actions were because of the circumstances. I’m like don’t let this make her unlikable to you, her true heart is there still!! I liked how honest she is with her feelings about Lan. How she is ready to fight anyone that thinks they can stand in their way. She gives herself to her wholeheartedly.

I liked the plot a lot. The journey to the abyss from both sides of the world, I thought was clever. Let’s meet in the middle takes on a whole different meaning. There is definitely still a lot of mystery surrounding the breaking. We I got to the last page, I was like noooooooooooo. I need more. I like it because I’ve turning different scenarios over in my head. I think I liked Haidee’s journey more than Odessa’s. I”m not sure why though. It’s cool because they are both different experiences. Haidee and Arjun have to just rely on each other. Where Odessa in a bigger group, finds that not everyone's motives are clear.

I love stories/video games that have two worlds like this. Sometimes overlapping each other or two halves of a whole. So it didn’t surprise me how much I enjoyed this book.

Despite an unsettling resemblance to Japanese revenants, Rin always maintains her sense of hummus. Born and raised in Manila, Philippines, she keeps four pets: a dog, two birds, and a husband. Dances like the neighbors are watching.

She is represented by Rebecca Podos of the Helen Rees Agency. She is also fond of speaking in the third person, and may as well finish this short bio in this manner. While she does not always get to check her Goodreads page, she does answer questions posed to her here as promptly as she is able to.
